ABOUT ME

Beauty Box and Me...

I have always had an interest in Beauty, Nails, Make up, Products and basically anything to do with our Industry. I originally trained straight out of school at East Surrey College when I was 16 years old back in 2003. I spent the first year gaining my NVQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy working alongside Dermalogica products and swiftly continued onto Level 3 course gaining My NVQ Level 3 in Holistic Therapy’s and NVQ Level 3 in Artificial Nails.

Shortly after completing my College education I saw a job advertised for a New spa opening in Caterham and applied for my first job within the industry, I was offered the position Full time and couldn't wait to start. Being a new spa I was there from the very beginning and worked alongside a lovely team of girls for the next few years. During these years I was fortunate enough to go on and gain qualifications with the following treatments and product houses; Gel Nails, Fake Tan, Spray Tan, Roller Waxing, Hopi Ear candles, Body treatments, Hot stone Massage, Thalgo, Jessica, Jane Iredale, Fresh Minerals, Decleor and over 100 hours of Dermalogica Skincare training with the international dermal institute. I also went back to college on an evening course for Theatrical & Media Make up and covered Theatre, film, TV, Wedding, Daily and Avante Garde make up styles; leading to me gaining a Diploma in this area in 2006.

In early 2008 after some staff changes and my manager leaving I was given the opportunity to take over as manager of Beauty @ the Village. During this time not only managed the spa but carried on as a therapist and also with training New therapists and continuing to further my own education. It was during this time that I gained probably my proudest achievment of my Post graduate certificate of skin and body care alongside The International Dermal Institute.

I carried on at the spa and in July 2011 I got married to my long term boyfriend of 11 years and went off on honeymoon. Came back and discovered I was pregnant with my first baby. I left Beauty @ the Village in April 2012 to go on maternity leave and have my eldest Son Alfie. During my time here I had built up lots of very Loyal Clients who wanted to continue seeing me so I have never really stopped working and so Beauty Box was born. I have been a mobile therapist since 2012 and having had my Second beautiful boy George in 2014; I continued like this until last year.

Now Alfie is nearly 6yrs old and at school and George has just turned 3 and at nursery mornings I have converted a room at home and am able to offer a wide range of beauty treatments. Many of the clients I met in when I first started working at Beauty @ the Village over 10 years ago still come to me now for treatments and I regard them not only clients but good friends.  They have seen me through various training, 1 engagement, 1 wedding, 2 pregnancies and 2 babies amongst many other times in my life and I am eternally grateful for their loyalty and support over the years and leading up to this point of me officially owning my own home salon and working around my first and most important job of being a mum.

Beauty Therapy for me is about making people feel good, giving people an escape, making great friends and above all doing something that I love to help provide for my kiddies. I welcome anyone into my salon with open arms and if you have childcare issues its not a problem just bring them along (if you want to obviously) as I have a copius amount of toys that will keep them entertained.

This year I am looking to build my client base, extend my vast arrange of Nail-care products and take on some NEW brands and complete yet again more training to extend my treatment list... 2018 I'm coming for you!

Who says you can't have it all? As my dad would have said ‘There’s no such word as can't!’
